Senior Executives of VW, BMW, Porsche Will Attend WNEVC and Deliver Speeches


Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC for short) will be held ceremoniously in Bo'ao, Hainan Province from July 1 to 3, 2019, with the theme of "New Era · New Revolution · New Industry". WNEVC provides a window for the development of China and even the world's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry to showcase global cutting-edge technologies and innovative achievements and to network. The congress gathering global wisdom and emphasizing industry-education integration will facilitate the coordinated development of science, technology, engineering and industry of NEV through the agreement among scientists and industry-education cross-field exchanges.

German Big Three Reached a Consensus on Global Trend of Electrification in Auto Industry

The adoption of the Paris Agreement has fully shown that NEVs which has already planned the overall development worldwide will become the mainstream of the automobile market in the future. At the end of last month, Volkswagen Group, Daimler AG, BMW AG agreed that the future belongs to electric vehicles. The three major automobile giants reached an agreement on the future development trend of the auto industry and they pointed out that in the next 10 years, they would focus on electric vehicles, including battery electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle. They were very optimistic about the future prospects of the global NEV industry in China. Luxury Sports-car manufacture – Porsche also takes lead in an ambitious strategic layout of new electric vehicles in the near future. Therefore, WNEVC has the honor to invite senior executives of Volkswagen Group, BMW AG, Porsche AG to attend and deliver speeches.

Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO, Volkswagen Group, Klaus Frohlich, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG have all confirmed their participation in the Plenary Sessions on July 2 and will deliver speeches. They will both attend the Speech of Industry Leaders session of the Plenary Sessions in the morning. The speeches will probe into such topics as energy transformation, environmental protection, and automotive industry’s green development, the automotive industry’s transformation and upgrading and innovative development, cross-industry and integrated development of NEVs. Zhu Huarong, President, Changan Automobile, will also make an important speech in this session.

The panel discussion of the same day will be moderated by Dr. Fuquan (Frank) Zhao, President of FISITA, Professor of Tsinghua University. Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume has confirmed to attend this session. The discussion will also invite the heads of traditional car manufacturers and new EV makers to discuss the transformation of the global automotive industry in the context of electrification, intelligence, and shared mobility, and probe into such topics as how to realize worldwide, large-scale NEV deployment? How to transform from conventional automakers to mobility service providers? How to realize the cross-industry and integrated development of NEVs? In addition, Sakamoto Hideyuki, President of Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc., Executive Vice President of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., HakCheol Shin, CEO of LG Chem, and Xu Heyi, Chairman of Beijing Automotive Group Co., Ltd have all confirmed to attend the Plenary Sessions on July 2 and will deliver speeches.

Nine Summits Will Be Held During the Congress — Intelligence Driven by Innovation

The establishment of WNEVC aims to find ways to seize the great opportunity of the reform and upgrading of the global auto industry, seize the strategic position for the development of NEV industry, and explore the effective path of the coordinated development of intelligence, shared mobility and electrification. Excellent Platform Showcases Innovation Breakthroughs, Ushering in Transformation and Upgrading of Global Auto Industry

The WNEVC will set up a 5,000-square-meter technology exhibition area from July 2 to 3 during the Congress, aiming to offer a platform to connect the NEV industry enterprises in China and even the world, release new energy products and technologies and communicate with the world-class counterparts in the new energy industry.

The Congress will highlight the integrated development features of electrification, intelligent and shared mobility, and focus on the coordinated development of automobiles and energy, transportation, information, communication as well as smart cities. There are mainly three exhibition areas: International Exhibitors, Domestic Exhibitors, and the Showcase of the 13th Five-year NEV Innovation. NEVs, NEVs battery systems, NEVs motor and drive, automotive electronics, new automobile materials, ICVs technology, smart shared mobility platform, test and analysis instruments will be displayed on the exhibition.

Up to now, 65% of the booths have been booked, and investment promotion and cooperation for various conference activities to be presented grandly during the exhibition are also in progress.

Deadline for Selecting Top “Global NEV Cutting-edge and Innovative Technologies” will be postponed until 10-May, 2019

In order to accurately keep pace with the latest progress made by world NEV field on innovative technology application and advanced technology research, promote the cooperation and exchange of key technologies at home and abroad, and guide the acceleration of breakthroughs in core technologies of NEVs, the WNEVC Organizing Committee has invited authoritative experts and scholars from all over the world to set up the Scientific and Technical Committee to organize the Selection of Top “Global NEV Cutting-edge and Innovative Technologies”, the results of which will be released globally at the Plenary Sessions on July 2.

WNEVC is calling for research institutes, universities, and enterprises around the world in the field of NEVs to submit candidate Innovative Technologies. The selection areas consist of vehicle integration and control, power batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, powertrain and drive systems, intelligence, lightweight and advanced materials, energy infrastructure and other emerging NEV technologies. Each organization can submit only one technology for award nomination. The application deadline is 17:00 (UTC+08), 10-May, 2019.
